Nrutyanjali by Andhra Pradesh Tourism commences

Nruthyanjali, a dance festival that includes different dance forms such as Bharathanatyam, Kuchipudi, Mohiniyattam, Kathak and Kathakali was commenced on Tuesday at the Ghantasala Venkateswara Rao Government Music and Dance College by the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Authority. This festival organised by Shree Vagdevi Kuchipudi Nruthyalaya is all set to carry on until Thursday.

The first day of the Nruthyanjali dance festival was highlighted by Kathak performance by a team formed by the collaboration of Sai Arts International and Karunag Center for Performing Arts from Bangalore. The spins and bends that make the dance form so stunningly attractive were aesthetically performed by artistes including Karthik Besetty, Nidada Karuna, Smith R Shasthry and Swetha Venkatesh.

To say more about that excellent Kathak presentation, the eyes of the performers have worked wonders as a communication medium, as the key focus of the dance form becomes the movements of eyes and feet. The dancers have strived ideally for communicating their expressions as their Umang, Vandanam as well as Theen Thal performances were exceptionally good.

Kuchipudi followed as popular numbers of the dance form, Suryasthakam and Vende Vasudevam were pleasantly performed in dance format by M Surendranath. As a regulation, this was followed by the old as well as routine dance numbers such as Krishna Kalaya Sakhi Sundaram, Panamosmi Vinayakam and Bho Shambho by the local artistes that are also disciples of Sappa Sivakumar.

The festival was inaugurated by J Sathyanarayana, DG (Fire). In his speech he averred that the state government was applying great care for the protection of traditional art forms and the propagation of cultural aroma across the state. The stage during the inaugural ceremony of the festival was blessed by noteable personalities including  Dr D Vijaya Bhaskar, Telagareddy Sathyanadam and Golla Narayana Rao.
