Silicon Valley Folk Festival will offer a collaboration of cultures

It has been reported that Silicon Valley Folk Festival, a new event to be presented in San Jose, is expected to highlight the tradition and culture of various countries of the world. The presenters aver that it is a first time thing.

According to reports, on March 31 2018, artistes of troupes from China, India, Brazil, Mexico, Nigeria, Guinea, Hawaii, Scotland and the Philippines will dance as part of two performances. The festival is being staged by Mosaic Silicon Valley, a nonprofit organisation. The event is also an initiative of Sangam Arts and Xpressions Dances.

The shiny galaxy of the Bay Area participants is expected to include the Chinese dance specialists Achieve Dance Arts Academy of San Jose, Akoma Arts of San Jose that focuses in Nigerian and Congonese dance, Ensamble Colibri of San Jose specialising in Mexican dance, and Halau Napuaokamokihanaoha, Xpressions of Saratoga, Parangal Dance Company of San Bruno, Red Thistle of Palo Alto and Bloco do Sol San Jose focusing Hawaiian, Indian, Philippinese, Scottish amd Brazilian dances.

Ms Usha Srinivasan, the co-founder of Sangam Arts said during a media briefing that grants from Applied Materials Foundation and the Knight Foundation were helping collaborative efforts such as theirs through funds.

Shows will be conducted at the Mexican Heritage Plaza in San Jose from 2 pm and 6 pm. Ticket prices range from USD 15 to USD 50.
